Standard hospital gowns are designed for clinical utility — not for the person wearing them. MEND recovery gowns are made from a soft cotton-merino blend, close fully at the back with a dignified design, and feature short sleeves with a front zip for IV and catheter access. They're machine washable, available in multiple colors, and built to feel like loungewear, not a paper sheet.

Our apparel products (recovery gowns, scrubs, compression socks) are consumer medical-grade apparel and do not require FDA clearance. The MEND AirGuard™ inflatable safety collar is a medical device and is currently pending FDA 510(k) clearance and CE Mark. It is available for pre-order only and will ship only after regulatory clearance is received.
MEND Compression Socks provide 20–30 mmHg graduated compression — the clinical standard for nurses, caregivers, and patients on their feet all day or recovering from surgery. This level is appropriate for most adults and is often recommended by physicians for DVT prevention and edema management. Always consult your doctor if you have a diagnosed circulatory condition.
Yes, for bulk orders of 24+ units we offer embroidery customization on gowns and scrubs. Colors are available across our standard palette. Lead time for custom orders is approximately 3–4 weeks. Contact us at contact@mendmedicalwear.com to discuss.
AirGuard™ Safety Collar
The AirGuard™ uses a 6-axis IMU (inertial measurement unit) — a combination of accelerometer and gyroscope — sampling motion 800 times per second. Our proprietary FallSense™ AI algorithm runs on the device's embedded processor and is trained to distinguish a genuine fall from normal activities like sitting down quickly, bending over, or bumping into furniture. The algorithm calibrates to the wearer's individual gait and movement patterns over the first few days of use.
After deployment: (1) the airbag cushion remains inflated for several minutes to protect during the recovery period, (2) the MEND Guardian App sends an automatic alert with GPS location to your designated emergency contacts within ~2 seconds, and (3) the device logs the fall event for review. A replacement CO₂ canister ships automatically if you have our Guardian subscription. The fabric shell is machine washable — only the CO₂ canister needs replacement after each deployment.
In our clinical trials, the AirGuard™ had a false trigger rate of under 0.5% — meaning fewer than 1 in 200 wearable-days resulted in an unintended deployment. For context, the device handles high-motion activities like walking on uneven terrain, light exercise, and household tasks without triggering. If a false trigger does occur, replacement CO₂ canisters are available at cost.
The AirGuard™ is currently in pre-order. Estimated ship date is Q3 2026, pending FDA 510(k) clearance. Pre-order customers will be notified first and charged only at time of shipment. You can cancel your pre-order at any time before shipment with a full refund.
Yes. The deflated collar weighs 210g — similar to a light scarf — and is designed to sit flat against the collarbone and shoulders. The fabric shell is breathable and machine washable. Most wearers in our beta program reported forgetting they were wearing it within the first few days.
Sizing & Fit
MEND gowns and scrubs are sized XS–3XL. Our sizing runs true to standard US sizing. For gowns, we recommend ordering your usual top size for the best fit. For compression socks, measure the circumference of your calf at its widest point and refer to our size chart: S/M (12–16"), L/XL (16–20"), XL/XXL (20"+).
Yes. All MEND garments are available through 3XL. We believe recovery wear should fit every body. If you need sizing outside our standard range, please contact us — we accommodate custom sizing for bulk facility orders.
