How a reading becomes
a delivered record.

Under the calm surface is a rigorous, HIPAA-compliant pipeline. Every reading from every MEND device travels the same seven steps — and you can watch each one check off in the app.

Step 01 · Capture

Your device takes the reading

MEND Pulse, MEND Oxi, or any MEND device measures as usual. The app keeps a live two-way link with the device, so the handoff starts the moment the reading exists.

The app confirms the patient

Before anything moves, the reading is attached to the right profile — the patient you chose in the app. In multi-patient homes, nothing ever files under the wrong name.

Data is imported & translated

Raw device output is imported and translated into structured JSON — a clean, universal representation of the measurement, its timestamp, the device it came from, and the patient it belongs to.

Cleaned, checked, and reshaped for your provider

The reading is sanitized — validated, range-checked, stripped of anything malformed — then transformed into the exact record format your provider's system requires. Their format, not ours.

Sealed before it leaves your phone

The formatted record is encrypted on-device before transmission begins. From here on, the data is unreadable to everything except its destination.

Secure hand-off to your provider

The encrypted record travels over TLS and is delivered straight into your provider's system — via secure SFTP drop or an OAuth 2.0 authenticated API, whichever your clinic uses. Both paths are HIPAA-compliant.

Step 07 · Confirm

Both ends know it arrived

Your provider receives a confirmation email that new data has landed, and the app shows you a delivery receipt. No wondering, no assuming — a closed loop, every single reading.

If any step fails — you'll know, and it tries again

A failed import or interrupted transmission is reported to you in plain language, and the app automatically retries until the reading is delivered and confirmed. Nothing is silently dropped, ever.

When it succeeds — the loop closes

Success flows back the way it came: delivered to your provider, confirmed by email, receipted in your app. That's the whole protocol. You just took a reading.

Health data deserves

The transmission protocol was designed HIPAA-first — not retrofitted. Your readings are protected at every stage: on the device, on your phone, in transit, and at rest.

HIPAA-compliant by design

Every path a reading can take — SFTP drop or OAuth 2.0 API — meets HIPAA transmission requirements. There is no non-compliant route through the system.

Encrypted end to end

AES-256 on your phone before transit, TLS on the wire, encryption at rest in the MEND Cloud. Data is sealed before it ever leaves your hand.

Authenticated delivery

Provider endpoints are verified and authenticated — keyed SFTP or OAuth 2.0 tokens — so records can only land where they're supposed to.

Receipts, not guesses

Every delivery generates a confirmation to the provider and a receipt in your app. An auditable trail of what was sent, when, and where it arrived.
